The Manitoba government has said that in 2017-2018 they will change the way that they provide money to school divisions to support students who have learning needs greater than the regular classroom can support. The old system provided funding on a per student basis. The new system will allocate a block of money to our division that we will have to divide up locally. We want to hear from parents/guardians about the things that they feel would be important in supporting students under a new funding model. For the FFSD , student support means providing services to a student beyond what they would receive within their classroom. Please complete this survey by March 10th, 2017. We will also be holding community meetings in March and April for parents who want to find out more information about these changes.

The Flin Flon School Division is located in the north-west on the border between Manitoba and Saskatchewan We provide public education services to residents of the City of Flin Flon, as well as those living in the Lake Athapap, Big Island Lake and Schist Lake areas. French Immersion instruction is also provided to residents of Creighton and Denare Beach in Saskatchewan.

The Division has approximately 1000 students that attend four schools - a K-8 community school, a K-8 dual track school, a Grade 9-12 high school and an alternative education/adult education school. The Flin Flon School Division has partnerships with Creighton School Division, Frontier School Division, Northern Manitoba Mining Academy and the University College of the North.
